*NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA WORKERS DAY CELEBRATION*

As we celebrate Workers Day today, we say congratulations to all Nigerian workers and we wish them a happy May Day Celebration.


Nigerian workers deserve commendations, appreciations and respects for their contributions to the development of our country, especially for their resilience in the face of the current economic reality.


We also use this medium to applaud the workers for their patriotic co-operation with the Nigerian Youth and other institutions in the collective efforts to addressing issues we are facing in our beloved country.


As the apex body of Nigerian Youth who are major stakeholders, we use the opportunity to appeal to the federal government to provide a lasting sustainable solution to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the interest of the Nigerian students, and the educational system of the country, which is dying gradually due to these incessant labour unrests and to ensure immediate reopening of our Universities for conducive learning and research.


We hereby urge Nigerian workers not to relent, keep hopes alive, cultivate a new spirit of patriotism that will be geared towards nation building and peace.
